Travel Bag: Hawaii Edition

[Products marked with a * were gifts; all others were purchased by me.]

This year we're going back to Hawaii for Christmas (and a wedding!) so it's time to pack again.

I hate packing.

And unpacking.

I'm not even going to delve into the clothing situation (hopefully the swimsuit that I ordered fits!). Let's just talk about makeup.

When I travel, I like to keep things minimal and simple (read: not heavy). I also don't like to bring new things that I haven't tested (read: no new and alarming skin reactions, if I can help it). I usually throw my cosmetics and brushes in this Clinique GWP bag that I got a long time ago. Since I do have to be in a wedding, I have to make sure that I have a little bit of glam here, but usually I am not so picky (I wouldn't normally bring the NARS setting powder, for example). We're off for ten days, so I want to have some variety, but I don't want to carry everything I own.

This is what made the cut:
Face: RMS "Un"cover Up 11, Annabelle BB Compact Makeup, MAC Whisper of Gilt, NARS Setting powder.
Eyes: Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in SandglowShiseido BR231, Smashbox Limitless liner, Clinique Lash Power mascara, Bloom glitter liquid liner*, MAC Strut brow pencil*
Cheeks: Senna Cosmetics Trés Jolie,* Clarity*; Dior Aurora bronzer
Rouge d'Armani 400, Laura Mercier Mink, Dior Garçonne.

Lips: Rouge d'Armani 400, Dior Garçonne, Laura Mercier Mink, plain balm.

Tools: Shiseido lash curler, RT blush brush, eye shadow brush, brow brush, buffing brush, Ecotools blush brush (one that came in a kit - the single brush is tapered; I use this one for highlighter), Sonia Kashuk spoolie brush.

Skincare: Clinique Super City Block SPF 40, Josie Maran Argan Oil mini (gifted from a friend), Elizabeth Dehn for One Love Organics Eye Balm (review soon), Boscia cleansing oil, mini Clinique facial soap.

Skincare is the worst, man. The worst.

I usually paint my nails (and toes!) with something long-lasting and gorgeous (this time Lippmann's Through the Fire on nails, and MAC Soirée* on toes) so I don't pay attention to anything nails during a trip.

I travel with a messenger bag (this one was a present from my parents and is amazing) as my carry-on and S. and I are cramming all the things in a suitcase and a carry-on duffel. My Kindle is loaded with things to read, my laptop is coming with me, and I have made sure to pack a change of clothing, my phone charger, and glasses in my carry-on (my luggage got sent to a different state once - with my winter coat and my phone charger in it. Yeah, that only happens once. Live and learn!). I don't usually travel with anything on my face besides moisturizer + serum and eye cream.
