Dior Vernis 908 Tuxedo

I usually refuse to pay more than $10 for nail polish, but sometimes you just gotta jump, you know?  This color is iconic Dior blue - it reminds me of all of the Dior packaging, shimmery and deep and lovely.  It's a dark, dark royal blue with very fine blue shimmer and sparkle.  It's opaque in one coat, but I did two, just for more intense color.

The formula is thick but easy to manage, though Dior polishes have the flat, wide, paddle brush that is found in Sally Hansen Insta-Dri (and some other brands).  It works, and covers the nail in one or two strokes, though it does lead to some minor dragging if you don't have enough polish on the brush tip.  It takes some experimentation to figure out the "happy amount" to have on your brush for even coverage - but not goopiness or overflowing the nail - but it's not problematic.  This is also one of the fastest drying polishes I own, and one-coat opacity is always a good thing, especially if you're crunched for time.  Tuxedo also dries down with an extremely glossy finish, even without a top coat.

Yes, this color is easily dupeable, and yes, it's expensive, but for me, I bought it as a pick-me-up.  It's Dior.  It's beautiful.  I see myself wearing this over and over again; it's dark enough to pass for vampy black under some lighting, but bring it into sunlight, and it eases into a beautiful jewel tone - like sapphires.  And it always retains that sophisticated, barely there shimmer.  Love.
